I took this photo a few weeks ago. This is a native wildflower called plains coreopsis. It is an annual plant that produces abundant seed and requires little to no care in a native wildflower garden. It's easy to see how the plains coreopsis is easily one of our most-loved wildflowers.

Plains Coreopsis is an attractive annual wildflower that is incredibly easy to grow and generally hassle free. It really does look amazing when the blooms sway in the breeze, seeming to hover over the other vegetation because their stems are so thin. Because of its easy growing habits and the bright, showy flowers of cultivars such as 'Roulette' (tiger stripes of gold on a deep mahogany ground), plains coreopsis is increasingly used for landscape beautification and in flower gardens.
